In 1978 our hotel was build in    Bellegem , a rural, yet lively village (at 5 km from Kortrijk centre) with 2 breweries, a lovely church and signposted walks.
The hotel is a fine example of the rural atmosphere it represents, and contains 14 rooms . The lounge, restaurant  , a cosy bar wih fireplace and a large garden with terrace guarantee an enjoyable stay.
Throughout the hotel wireless internet access is available, in the lounge, you even find an internet-kiosk computer.
Ample parking is provided and a garage is at your disposal when reserved.

The decoration of our hotel witnesses our respect for the flemish traditions, a remarkable collection of lace , made by your hostess is worth visiting.

The hotel contains 14 rooms, each one individually decorated with valuable antiques, combined with all modern comfort.
All rooms have a siting corner, cable television,direct telephone line with modem connection, broadband-wireless internet acces and en suite bathroom with toilet.
Several rooms are exclusively for non-smokers.
Rooms are equipped with king size or twin beds, and serveral rooms have accomodation for up to three or four persons.

The luxe and xtra luxe rooms also offer a bar-fridge, laptop-safe,  free wifi internet access and digital tv with filmnet.
Room 15 (picture) is extra spacious and comfortabel, with an extra luxe and spacious bathroom, and has its privat terrace at the south-garden side of the hotel.

Breakfast in Troopeird means being served at your table with a freshly pressed juice, marmelades from fruit out of our garden, damping hot coffee (or other drink), special local bread, sandwich filling, cereals and eggs prepared on your order.
If you have special wishes, please do not hesitate to tell us.

Our Rôtisserie (open on weekdays from 19.00 to 21.00 hrs) is situated in the lovely winter garden with pleasant view on the greenery.
We have a daily changing menus, a diner à la carte, fine meat, fresh fish as well as a nice snack. 

The seasonal menu features some exquisite meals and local cuisine, which can satisfy the hungriest appetite, even without a starter.
Half board is available for a stay of at least 3 days, but we also offer our
Etappe Troopeird formula for shorter stays.

On the wine list we offer you, besides a wide variety of "grand cru classé"-wines, some honest wines, imported by the house, that give you the most interesting price-quality ratio..

The restaurant is closed in the weekend and holidays, but we do know the good adresses nearby. At the reception a list is available with all the fine restaurants of Kortrijk. (first class-Thai-japan-Bistro).

The original Inn, dating from 1625, is rebuild into a unique relaxation centre, with rural atmosphere and which is suitable to families and small parties (up to 10 pers.).         “Dolce far niente” and regaining your energy are the most important interests !

A unique Finnish Tepidarium dominates the entrance hall where you will also find some lazy chairs to relax.
The temperature of 40°C, light and sound effects (Feng Shui and Yoga) and the original Himalayan Salt Rocks help you to experience a emotion of absolut relaxation.
A Dimension One Spa whirlpool and cold water barrel on the terrace and
Fitness, Turkish Steam bath, Dry Sauna, Massage showers, relaxation area for children and adults,  inside.

In the cosy sitting corner, near the fireplace, we can arrange a nice drink and a bite to eat.

TROOPEIRD HISTORY AND AT PRESENT

Along the old road from Kortrijk to Tournai there was, from the 17th century on, a "Auberge" called La Maison Rouge (the red house).
As it was a posthouse, where coaches changed horses, local people used to call it the red horse (het rode paard). A combination found al over western Europe (see Cheval Blanc eg in France).

Later on the french name officialy became Auberge Het Rode Paard (red horse) but in the sixties we changed it into TROOPEIRD, which is the dialect name, given by the locals.
In the 20th century it was also known as the "koorde".  A Koorde is a rope made of flax ( main industry of the region)  and also made here in the original Troopeird.
In 1968 Troopeird becomes the first restaurant in Kortrijk, famous for its "haut cuisine".
But as the guests of the hotel (opened in 1978) prefered, simpler and healthy food, the original restaurant was given an other destination and our kitchen became more limited and adapted to the needs.

Love for traditions and Lace

The hotel was build according the most modern rules of comfort and security, but with respect for tradition.
The atmosphere suggests that this building once was a typical flemish farm-house.
A unique collection of traditional LACE, made by your hostess Lieve, witnesses the love for old traditions.  Textile and clothing once were the main industries of this region.
Not only the different styles but also the secrets of lace production can be discovered in Troopeird.
A visit to the nearby  museum of Lace and Linen (nicest of Belgium!) is worth a few hours (look at http://www.kortrijk.be and search for Kantmuseum).

Bellegem

Bellegem (http://www.bellegem.net ) is a rural, yet livey village with several breweries, a lovely church and signposted walks and cycle paths.
The long distance walk path GR5 West from Ostend to Ronse crosses our village.  The  Argendael-route shows the variety of local vieuws between the rivers Schelde and Leie. http://www.toerisme-leiestreek.be
The national tourist authority granted us the label cyclist-friendly hotel.
We provide you maps, material, bike shed, and help for your trips.
VZW Mobiel (http://www.mobiel.be ) rents at a more than fair price, quality bikes brought to the hotel.

Kortrijk

Kortrijk is a nice small town where you will find ample shops, restaurants, culture.  In the sixties, the first car free shopping street of Belgium were made in the centre of Kortrijk.
The townhall, Bagaertshof and Groeningemuseum are well worth visiting. The beguinage of Kortrijk is an oasis of rest and peace and is realy one of the nicest in Belgium (nicer than Gent or even Brugge).
Kortrijk railways station has good junctions with all mayor towns and France (direct to Lille TGV).
Between Bellegem and Kortrijk, right at exit n° 2, the very dynamic Xpo Hallen organise important fairs and expos. (2.5 km from the hotel)
